Caratwise, Inc. ("Caratwise," "we," "us," or "our") provides a custom jewelry design, pricing, and order management platform used by independent jewelry retailers ("Retailers").

This Privacy & Cookies Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when individuals interact with Caratwise through retailer websites, in-store applications, plugins, or related services (collectively, the "Services").

Our Services are primarily intended for users in the United States, but may also be accessed by individuals in other jurisdictions, including the European Union and the United Kingdom. 2. How Caratwise Fits Into Your Experience

Caratwise operates as the technology behind the scenes.

  • If you are a retailer or business user, we collect and use your information directly.
  • If you are a consumer interacting with a retailer using Caratwise, your relationship is primarily with that retailer.

In those cases:

  • The Retailer determines how your personal information is used
  • Caratwise acts as a service provider (data processor) on behalf of the Retailer

Caratwise processes personal information only as needed to provide the Services and does not independently determine the purposes of processing that information. Caratwise may act as a data controller for certain processing activities such as analytics, security, and direct interactions with business users.

  • Enable real-time custom jewelry design and pricing
  • Process and support orders placed through Retailers
  • Provide technical support to Retailers
  • Improve functionality, reliability, and performance

6. Aggregated & Anonymized Data

Caratwise may use aggregated and anonymized data that does not identify individuals to:

  • Understand usage trends
  • Improve the Services
  • Develop insights and benchmarks

Such data is processed in a manner that ensures it is irreversibly anonymized and cannot be used to identify any individual, directly or indirectly.

7. How Information Is Shared

Personal information may be shared only:

  • With the Retailer associated with your interaction
  • With trusted service providers that support our operations, including but not limited to:  • cloud hosting and infrastructure providers  • data storage and security providers  • analytics and performance monitoring tools  • customer communication and messaging platforms (e.g., email and SMS delivery)  • customer support and CRM systems  • website functionality and integration partners
  • When required by law, regulation, or legal process

All service providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect personal information and use it only for authorized purposes. We do not share personal information with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

8. Do Not Sell or Share Personal Information

Caratwise does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

Certain information collected by Caratwise, such as IP address, location data, and other information defined under applicable law, may be considered Sensitive Personal Information.

Upon termination of a Retailer relationship, personal information is deleted or returned in accordance with applicable agreements, unless retention is required by law.

Personal information may be stored and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where Caratwise or its service providers operate.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse. These measures include, where applicable, encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, authentication mechanisms, and ongoing monitoring and logging.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for cross-border data transfers.
